Top Pick for Womens Road Running Shoes

Running shoes...

Choices, choices, choices...

Have a look at my choices of the best women's road running shoes.

As with anything I can only go on what I know and the running shoes I've loved to run in.

Asics are by far the best for me and have a really good range, I'm saving up for yet another pair of new running shoes which will make it my fifth pair of Asics.

Though I own a few other brands like the North Face Single Track, I do like to return to my old favourites. Strangely enough I seem to keep my old ones so I can leave them around different places, the car, my sisters, work so I've always got a pair to fall back on when needed.

And if you're looking to pick up your running training then you might like to also think about getting a heart rate monitor to improve your performance during each training session. By targeting your running you will perform better and in a shorter period of time.

Heart rate monitors are a great addition to your run and will encourage you to beat your stats from the last time, HRM's such as the Timex Ironman and any of the Garmin Heart rate monitors such as the Garmin Forerunner 210 are easy to use and enjoy. So get out there with your new trainers and HRM and go for it!

So back to it, my top favourites trainers for running and training in.

Newton Running Shoe- Isaac

The Newton Isaac is neutral guidance running shoe that is made for those runners who are more prone to heel striking and wish to make a change to forefoot running.

The neutral guidance of the shoe comes in the stacked, built up heel which tips your body forward slightly. Newton is renowned for their tipping forward design which uses gravity to pull you makes you run faster as you fall forward.

The Newton running shoe is incredibly comfortable and what’s more they are light too, so will be great for use in competition. The Isaac neutral running shoe also has a carbon outsole which aims to give more durability and a long life to your shoe.

K-Swiss, K-Ona for a Stability Cushioned Running Shoe

If you’re looking for a stability running shoe that’s good value for money then you really can’t go wrong with the K-Swiss, K-Ona. The K-Ona is a supportive running shoe designed to be light weight and comfortable.

The K-Ona is a great choice for those with thin feet but it gives a good fit all round. The K-Swiss, K-Ona has a rigid thermoplastic polyurethane mid-foot shank that increases the stability of the shoe. The K-Ona is nice a solid making it perfect for training and running those miles.

However the K-Swiss, K-Ona is also well formed for race day itself, though perhaps not the lightest weight choice of shoes out there it nevertheless has potential. The K-Ona running shoe is seamless which makes it very comfortable and possible to wear without socks if that’s your choice during races.

Saucony Triumph 7 Cushioned Running Shoes

For those of you who need a cushioned running shoe for the neutral runner then the Saucony Triumph is the shoe for you.

The Saucony Triumph is not only a road running shoe but will perform well as a grass and dry tracks trail running shoe.

The Saucony Progrid Triumph 7 running trainer has a firm mid to forefoot cushioning which feels really good whether you’re tearing it up or just out for a little plod.

The Saucony is an all rounder. They give you spring and have good shock absorbtion, they are light weight which could be a boon when race day arrives and they are practical.

The Gel Cumulus Asics Running Shoes

This is still my favourite running shoe, though you'll no doubt be buying new running shoes and have an updated, more advanced version of mine.

This Gel Cumulus 12 offers great comfort and cushioning for the whole foot, so by that I'm not just referring to the sole of the foot. It's got a real comfy ankle support and tongue and the mesh across the toes allows your foot to breath but feel nicely held in.

The Asics gel feels real nice under foot. It allows for a spring back that I've never truly felt when wearing other types of sole.

To stress how impressed I am with the Asics Gel Cumulus 12; I bought mine last year and wore once before needing to use them for a competition...running up and down mountains also I bought the best heart rate monitor at the same time and had to quickly learn how to use it.Normally I'd think I was stupid to use them on the day with out wearing them in properly but I was quite desperate. They were superb! Gave enough feel under foot to be sure footed on rocks, shale, grass. Thinking I need to get on and buy me a new pair.

My Top Pick For North Face- Single Track Running Shoes

Just to prove that not just Asics have a place in my heart for giving comfort to my feet. These North Face Single Track trainers seem to be doing a pretty mean job of it also.

Bought these this year so I'd have a fresh pair of trainers for yet another mountain race and they perform really well.

I have to admit I chose these partly because they looked so damn good. I wanted a pair of trainers to double up for running and for wearing around town to keep my tootsies comfy and I'm still wearing them.

These have a great tread, ankle support and a fab piece of fabric across the tongue to hold it in place. I reckon can give a pretty mean fight for first place against the Asics Cumulus.

Asics Gel Nimbus 12 Running Shoes

Again Asics running shoes are great for offering comfort and lots of stability.

The Asics Gel Nimbus 12 have a great tred and again with the gel in the sole they are super comfortable to run in. You can feel the gel doing its work when your foots strikes the ground; as you can feel it spring the foot right back.

The shoe has a nice wide sole as with the Asics Cumulus to give added stability and a sure footed feeling.

All the color options are great and obviously the Asics design are fab!

Talking of that, the Asics logo/ pattern on the sides does another job of surrounding the foot to give the feeling of security in the shoes.

This may sound like a strange observation but if you've ever had a running shoe where your forefoot feels slightly as if the toes are swimming then you may understand.

Any way, another great design from Asics.
